This course will examine the most important text in the history of the world. We will do close readings of both the Old Testament, paying special attention to Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, 1 Samuel, Deuteronomy, and Ecclesiastes, and the New Testament, with a focus on Matthew, Romans, and Galatians. Our textual analysis will yield a deeper understanding of the foundational document of Judaism, Christianity, and Western civilization.
